Real estate mogul, art collector, triathlete, theatre producer, and philanthropist – these are just a few of the many hats Elie Hirschfeld wears. In addition to developing an impressive range of interests and talents, Elie Hirschfeld is also a proud father of five and an active leader in New York’s Jewish community.
Elie Hirschfeld enjoys a fit and active lifestyle and thrives on healthy competition. He has competed in the Hawaii Ironman triathlon and the Israel Ironman triathlon. In addition, Elie began collecting art in the early 1980s with a painting of Washington Square Park by the great American artist Thomas Hart Benton, “I looked out on that park every day during my years at NYU law school,” Elie remembers. “I fell in love with Benton’s painting, and I realized I could build a collection focused on scenes of New York City by the many different artists who have been inspired here.” Today, Elie Hirschfeld’s collection includes over 200 works.
His love of this great city complements his vocation as President and CEO of Hirschfeld Properties, a leading New York real estate firm. “I love my work, and appreciate the opportunity to contribute to the face of the city,” he said.
Elie Hirschfeld has been an avid sportsman as well, throughout his life. During law school he spent weekends teaching skiing in Vermont and at the age of 35, he decided to compete in his first triathlon. He has completed over 100 triathlons and 11 marathons to date.
Elie often runs in Central Park and is an enthusiastic supporter of the Central Park Conservancy. This is just one beneficiary of his philanthropic giving, which is focused mainly in the areas of education, healthcare, athletics and Jewish causes.
Elie Hirschfeld is a talented leader in many demanding arenas. Yet, even in light of his demanding schedule and diverse commitments, Elie is happiest spending time with his family. He says, “I have been fortunate and have immense gratitude for so many wonderful times I’ve enjoyed with my family and my children. It is my greatest joy to share my passions with them, and to continue contributing to the areas we want to grow together.”
